First Impressions: Lightweight But Sturdy
Right out of the box, the Freshshot feels light but not flimsy—a good balance if you don’t want to feel weighed down but still need solid support. The upper is made from ProFlex material, which is a mix of elastic and polymer fibers. In simple terms, it’s flexible enough to allow natural movement but structured enough to keep your foot locked in place.
The micro-honeycomb mesh is a nice touch, especially if you play in warmer climates. It adds breathability right where you need it—above the toes—so your feet don’t overheat mid-game. Arizona, Texas, Florida etc pickleballers know exactly what I mean.
Traction & Stability: Court-Ready Grip
One of the standout features of this shoe is the contoured rubber outsole. Acacia designed it specifically for pickleball, so it has a low-profile tread pattern that grips the court without feeling overly sticky. Whether you’re making quick lateral moves, retrieving a lob, or planting hard to drive a shot, the grip is consistent and reliable. If you were a fan of the outsole on the Tyler II, then you know exactly what to expect from this outsole as it is being used for all of Acacia’s shoes released in 2025 as of the time of this article.
Another big plus? The heel stability. The shoe comes with Heel Control Stability (HCS) technology, which basically means the back of your foot stays put even during aggressive movement. No sliding around inside the shoe, no annoying heel lift—just a secure, stable base.
Cushioning & Comfort: Ready to Play All Day
Acacia didn’t skimp on comfort here. The CloudGel ergonomic insole (which we have seen in previous models)makes a difference, especially during longer matches or training sessions. It provides responsive cushioning, so you get impact absorption without that sinking, squishy feeling some shoes have.
The toe box is moderately wide, which should work well for most players. It’s not as roomy as some ultra-wide shoes, but it’s definitely not narrow either. If you’ve got wider feet, you might need to test the fit, but for standard-to-slightly-wide feet, it feels great. I think I am going to try the size 12 as well to see if that provides a bit more room while maintaining a proper fit.
Durability: Built to Last
Pickleball is rough on shoes—constant lateral movements, toe drags, and hard pivots can wear down a cheap pair fast. Acacia reinforced high-impact areas (like the toe and sides) with a thermally bonded Kevlar drag-guard, which helps protect against abrasion. If you play singles or do a lot of lateral movement I suggest doubling up on socks. With durability around the toes comes a bit more potential to rub with the kevlar. If you tend to burn through shoes quickly, this could add some extra mileage before you need a replacement. I will give an update on how long the outsole lasts me.
