I have been looking forward to getting these shoes on my feet and doing a review for a while. As a recovering/relapsing sneaker addict, I tend to notice shoes more than the average person. Very, very few pros have signature shoes in the pickleball space. Tyler Loong is the first and this is the Loong II. Back in January I caught up with Tyler, noticed he was wearing prototypes, snapped a few pics and knew something was brewing. Only 1 color-way so far, but this color-way is unisex and will appeal to a wider audience. The bright orange Tyler I can be described as a bold choice.

The overall design on the upper remains very similar although we see quite the upgrade to the outsole and insole. It appears they kept the outsole and the midsole from the prototypes. The outsole gets a premium rubber outsole upgrade that promises to deliver more durability. If there was one knock on the Tyler I, I would say it was the outsole durability. I always referenced the Tyler I as a great tournament shoe. Heavy drillers and rec players like myself burn through soles pretty quick, so this upgrade is much appreciated. Now a more durable outsole usually means you are adding some weight to the shoe, but the added weight just puts the shoe on par with the weight of most of the other pickleball shoes on the market. The Tyler I is light!

The outsole seems to come higher up on the toe and forefoot providing more protection and support. Where the outsole ends the kevlar drag guard begins. If you own a pair of Acacia Dinkshots then you are familiar with the drag guard and how nice of an addition it is.

The insole. What an immediate impact this gel insert makes. Durability and comfort don’t usually go hand in hand. Holding the shoe and feeling the outsole, one would think the shoe would have more of a rigid feel to it. The CloudGel insert sitting on top of a EVA foam midsole makes these shoes very comfortable out of the box. Like most of Acacia shoes, these require very little break in time and can be comfortably worn right out of the box to the court. The added ventilation channels ensure you get proper air circulation.

Acacia continues the accessory trend. They come with a extra pair of grey laces and a white mini pickleball. I do think this shoe is an improvement over the Tyler I. The color-way (as I mentioned early) is a neutral palette that will attract a wider audience. I would like to see some additional color-way releases down the road. Either way the shoe is a sharp looking shoe that could be worn off-court as well. Comfort is on point. If you can pickle in them, walking around town is no problem either. These also come with a wider toe-box. I went down half a size and I feel very locked in the shoe without having to use the offset back eyelet.

The Tyler Loong Signature II is an extremely comfortable shoe that looks good with with almost any outfit you can think of due to the neutral colors. It has all the support you would expect from a shoe to limit foot fatigue and injuries. I highly recommend you get a pair.
