picklemall indoor pickleball coming to you soon
If you are reading this then you are most likely already hooked on pickleball. At the very least you are intrigued and want to learn more. Pickleball is still the fastest growing sport in the US and currently the player to court availability ratio is way off in some places. In some cities people are waiting an hour to play one game before having to get in line and wait again. The demand for more courts is abundantly clear. Weather is another driving factor. Certain times of the year simply prohibit outdoor play. Safe to say when it’s over 115 degrees or under 30 degrees, most people are not playing outdoors.
Picklemall has a solution. They are planning on opening 50 locations nationwide over the next 24 months. Location 1 opens up July 2023 in Arizona. They indoor courts will be occupying a vacant 100,000 square foot facility accompanied by a (Joola sponsored) pro shop. The AZ Picklemall location will be taking over the old At Home store in Arizona Mills Mall. This endeavor is being led by CEO West Shaw and backed by billionaire investor and MLP founder Steve Kuhn. But how will these facilities differentiate themselves from the other indoor facilities? What innovation will they bring to the indoor pb space? Time will tell, but here is one amenity that is definitely cool.
Most courts will have cameras, where players can hit a button to create a social media-ready video clip of how that point played out. “There’s a camera above the court, and it watches you play,” Shaw said. “So if you want that clip, we’ll send you that clip to your phone. So you can watch your film, and learn from your film.”
The ability to hit a button and capture highlights from your rec sessions/tournaments or break down technique from lessons or camps is a great value add. And the fact that they can send it right to your phone for social posting will attract many people. We gotta see what the quality of the footage looks like but the idea if executed correctly is very smart. We look forward to checking out the first Pickleball location and providing firsthand review.
